About The Last of Furs

餘獸重生主題介紹

Backstory

In the year 20XX, an outbreak of an unknown pathogen struck Furtopia. The virus attacked living immune systems, driving hosts into a state of rabid frenzy, stripping them of all reason, and compelling them to violently attack any living being in sight. They suffered from an unquenchable thirst, one that even drinking massive amounts of water could never alleviate.

Although the government detected the initial infections and scrambled to contain the contagion, research could not keep pace with the virus's relentless spread. Paralyzed by fear, researchers gave this terrifying pathogen a name: the Cerberus Neurodegenerative Virus (CNV).

--

Soon, citizens fled in utter terror from the onslaught of the infected, scattering in all directions and accelerating the transmission across the city. Faced with this sudden crisis, high-ranking military leadership fractured into bitter discord. One faction argued for an immediate deployment of troops to suppress the out-of-control infected, while the other insisted on following the government’s directive to prioritize citizen evacuation and minimize casualties.

Amid the stalemate, a specialized unit answering directly to the high command moved into Furtopia en masse to purge the infected. Armed with overwhelming firepower, they temporarily pushed back the infected hosts, bringing the urban center under brief control.

Yet as time went on, the virus evolved into an increasingly formidable threat—ordinary munitions could no longer inflict fatal damage upon them.

Ultimately, a nuclear strike was unleashed upon the city.

--

Decades later, Furtopia was unrecognizable. Shattered financial towers, abandoned amusement parks, and overgrown hospitals stood silent, while infected hosts still roamed the ruins, snarling aimlessly into the void. Survivors who had escaped both the viral onslaught and the nuclear strike scraped by in the brutal wasteland, gradually forming distinct communities across the ruins.

One night, the survivors' receivers picked up a broadcast signal:

"This is Shelter 11. If you can hear this transmission, proceed immediately to the rendezvous point at the following coordinates. Repeating, this is Shelter 11..."

Could this message mark the first dawn of civilization's rebirth in the wake of disaster?
With no answers in hand, the survivors set forth into the great unknown...
